TMMI was an early pioneer in high quality video with its original SoftVideo™ fractal compression codec that was upgraded from 15-bit RGB (RGB555, 5 bits per color channel) to 24 bit RGB (RGB888, 8 bits per color channel) back in 1993. It was a noticeable improvement over the then standard "High Color" represented by only 32 intensities of each Red Green Blue component that produced heavy color banding artifacts.
